Hmmm,..so I just received the news and I would be lying if I said that I wasn't significantly disappointed, However, as many a wise person has said (and as life usually demonstrates), things transpire and we all must move on. Of course, between learning of the passing of one of my favourite guitarists (Dennis D'Amour from Voivod) and learning about the fate of one of my favourite bands (you guys, of course), it all makes for some rather interesting pondering.
Nevertheless, I wish all of you the best of luck with your new projects and your general lives. And, most importantly, thank you for the music. Cheers!

i'll have you people know that i and a few others were extremely, UNBAREABLY disappointed that you did not travel to missoula, montana with xiu xiu a few weeks ago. true, the venue is crap, the crowd was small, but in that crowd was i, who traveled 3 hours through treacherous mountains and sleet to get to missoula in time to buy beer and make sure there wasn't a line to be dealt with. how could you!?!?!!
no really, i was upset. maybe some other time, ja? seeing this soundtracking music happen while familiarizing with the songs would be stupendous.

| First let me start with -PLEASE COME BACK TO PHILLY! Alright, last night's show at the Electric Factory got me thinking. One, you guys and girls were great, ten times better than the album, which is really good too. I def. won't be taking it out of my CD player for quite some time. Secondly, why did you play after Secret Machines? You blew them away, the only thing they had that you didn't was a bunch of lights that I guess was suppose to remind the crowd of their crappy single played on MTV all the time. | the samples on the site are quite lovely. looking forward to catching a performance in the neighborhood. fuzzy like jesus and mary chain but without excess distortion. a touch of very early liz phair in the vocals and some quality songwriting going on as well. (if you were bottled up as a corked metaphor i would think of an oaky cabernet with a smooth finnish, unexpected top notes of cherry, velvety tanins good nose with a plum and cassis finish; an excellent year for this grape.) |

I purchased the disc yesterday and have listened to it (in its entirety) several times!
"bread", for me, is one of those songs that should be listened to while i am walking around outside
(metropolitan setting or green environs, it doesn't matter) on a warm summer's day, getting lost in the intense Sunlight, blue sky, and drifting clouds.
the rest of the songs are choice as well.
i will recommend this to my friends far and wide.

I'm putting together a second CD Compilation as part of a HOSPICE awareness project and, so, I'm reaching out to musicians, and companies that work with musicians, to tell them of this opportunity.
The first one featured Graham Parker, Better Than Ezra, Brave Combo, NRBQ, the dB's and members of The Police, The October Project, The Smithereens and Whiskytown. Like them, I hope you'll get involved, too, by either sending appropriate material (see below), or spreading the word of this project.
This will be a national hospice awareness effort, which will locally benefit Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center, one of NJ's leading non-profit hospices, and the place where I work as a Volunteer Coordinator.
I am looking, mainly, for ORIGINAL (winter) holiday-themed songs. All sounds and all levels of artists are welcome to participate--we love variety--but the base will be an "alternative" pop-rock/folk sound.
